FMTO Research Lab (Frameworks for Modern Technology Oversight) is an independent research initiative dedicated to advancing transparency, accountability, and governance in emerging digital technologies.
The laboratory conducts research on blockchain systems, artificial intelligence, decentralized networks, digital governance, and technology disclosure practices. Through open research, datasets, frameworks, and policy-relevant analysis, FMTO seeks to promote greater transparency and comparability across rapidly evolving technological ecosystems.
Current research initiatives include the AI White Paper Harmonization Initiative, which aims to develop standardized disclosure frameworks for artificial intelligence projects, and the Decentralization Index Project, which evaluates the degree of decentralization across blockchain networks and digital platforms.
FMTO Research Lab also publishes academic research, datasets, and analytical reports intended to support researchers, policymakers, industry practitioners, and the broader public.
The laboratory is led by Prof. Hatem Mabrouk, a researcher and educator in international business, blockchain governance, and emerging technologies
